Le temps des aubergines… O.K. it’s the phrase that corresponds to the famous Clement’s Commune-associated Le temps des cerises! Completely away from its original meaning and the famous historical context, Le temps des cerises has become the name of a French fashion brand… So, I decided to name my autumn look for today tout simplement, as Le temps des aubergines!
Dark purple, brownish purple, or pinkish-purple-greyish… depending on the exact nuance is so close to Byzantium or even imperial purple… It’s mysterious and elegant and decent. No wonder the Roman and Byzantine emperors used to wear this color. Justinian I looked quite decent on the famous and well known VI century mosaic from San Vitale and so did the Empress Theodora, his wife.
I enjoyed the lovely walk in the late afternoon… in aubergine!
