Capri has always been one of my favorite destinations. It’s much more than just an island or just a summer resort… Romantic and elegant Capri offers a very specific charm, unique, unsurpassed… from its lovely Cafes at La Piazzetta (La Piazza Umberto I or “a chiazz”, to say it in dialetto) where you start your day with a cappuccino, relaxing, reading ‘newspapers’ (on your iPad), watching people pass by, enjoying the early morning sun… There are two special tastes of the famous Italian ice-cream: Caprilu’ (Almond with lemon) and Fantasia di Capri… There are numerous shops along the famous Corso Vittorio Emanuele and Via Camerelle, where you will hardly resist spending your money on excellent shoes or sandals, bags, clothes, sunglasses from the most prestigious designers… (It’s clear no one will resist, but you’ll find what you need!)
I always enjoy the nice walk to the amazing point Punta Tragara where you can watch the bay and the beautiful blue sea and the three famous rocks: Stella, di Mezzo and di Fuori – three famous stone giants – The Faraglioni and the beautiful beach, my favorite on the island: Da Luigi ai Faraglioni, opened in 1936 offering the nice sea edge terrace, the restaurant with the authentic cuisine, where you can really have a good lunch and what is really important you can enjoy swimming in the beautiful blue sea until late in the afternoon.
When you simply don’t feel like spending a day on the beach, which rarely, if ever, happens, you can always stay and mingle in Capri or see the Villa Jovis or the Augustus Gardens, Via Krupp or take a short ride to Anacapri or even go up to the Mount Solaro and enjoy the amazing view on the island or take a boat to Grotta Azzura or visit the Charter-house St. Giacomo or spend the days walking from one cafe to another (mieuw!) and enjoy the cuisine at Il Quisi or La Capannina or move somewhere else, as I did: go to Sorrento for a sip of Limoncello before dinner or to Positano and Amalfi or the beautiful city of Napoli…
